Notice on the Application for the 2026 Fall Semester Exchange Student Program at the University of Waikato, New Zealand

Founded in 1964, the University of Waikato is one of eight publicly funded universities in New Zealand. It enjoys a strong reputation in the fields of management, law, computer science, natural sciences, and education. The University of Waikato has established cooperative education institutions and programs with several Chinese universities. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings, the University of Waikato ranked 281st globally, with 13 subjects ranked among the world's top 300. Pursuant to the agreement between the two universities, we hereby notify the following regarding the 2026 Fall Semester Exchange Student Program at the University of Waikato:

I. Program Information

  1. Duration: July – November 2026

  2. Costs: Shantou University tuition is waived; 15% of the host university's tuition is waived under the bilateral agreement. All other expenses, including accommodation, insurance, meals, and international travel, are to be borne by the student.   3. Number of Places: 2 students

II. Eligibility Requirements

  1. Currently enrolled sophomore or junior students at Shantou University, all majors welcome.

  2. Applicants must be in good academic and moral standing, with no disciplinary records or other penalties.

  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0.

  4. Minimum English language proficiency requirements:

  5. Applicants must have sufficient financial means to cover the costs and must obtain parental consent.

III. Application Process

Please register online before March 29, 2026 at the International Office website: https://icd.stu.edu.cn/studentVisitDetail.aspx?theNo=435. Simultaneously, upload the following documents as attachments on the application page:

  • International Exchange Program On-Campus Application Form (for Record)

  • Current academic transcript

  • Certificate of enrollment

  • Proof of English proficiency

  • Scanned copy of the passport information page (if you do not have a passport, please apply for a new one as soon as possible).

Failure to submit the required documents as instructed will be considered a withdrawal of the application.

IV. Selection Procedure

Applications will be reviewed by the relevant faculty, followed by a merit-based nomination and recommendation. The final admission decision rests with the host university. Selected students must complete the internal procedures for overseas visits and submit a course summary upon completion of the program.
