Wisdom Gathering at the Science and Technology Museum, Youth Innovating for the Future+ STU College of Engineering & Jingyi Academy Bring Eaton Cup Tech Innovation Exhibition to Shantou Science and Technology Museum

On May 24, the Party Committee of the College of Engineering, Shantou University, together with the Party Working Committee of Dahua Subdistrict and the Party Branch of Shantou Science and Technology Museum, launched the science and technology volunteer service activity “Wisdom Gathering at the Science and Technology Museum, Youth Innovating for the Future+”.
Students from Shantou University brought professional knowledge and scientific and technological innovation achievements to the museum in the form of visible, touchable and experiential popular science interactive projects, allowing citizens to experience the charm of science and technology up close and building a bridge between academia and daily life.
Under the theme “Wisdom Gathering at the Science and Technology Museum, Youth Innovating for the Future+”, the event showcased outstanding undergraduate competition works from the “Eaton Cup” Science and Technology Innovation Festival.
A total of 10 themed booths were set up, including 4 for scientific and technological innovation achievements and 6 for interactive experiences, balancing professionalism and fun to enable visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in engineering innovation.
In the scientific and technological achievements exhibition area, all exhibits were competition entries developed based on students’ professional knowledge, reflecting the deep integration of theoretical learning and innovative practice.
At the booth “Beauty of Structure, Wisdom of Architecture”, volunteers shared their design ideas and explained the mechanical principles behind the ultimate load-bearing capacity of bamboo bridges, using “rigorous knowledge + accessible language” throughout the exhibition.
From the 3D‑printed biomedical applications at “3D Intelligent Manufacturing, Medical‑Engineering Innovation”, to the flexible intelligent robots at “Intelligent Transportation, Robotic Pioneers”, to the AI‑created works at “Craftsmanship Stories, Engineering Images”, students presented campus innovations to the public, making advanced university research approachable.
The interactive experience zone featured games, handcrafts and challenge activities based on basic scientific principles.
Many parents guided their children through family science exploration, with parent-child cooperation seen everywhere.
At “Smart Control Maze, Breakthrough at Your Fingertips”, parents explained magnetism in simple terms; while waiting for equipment setup, some told their children that learning, like scientific research, requires repeated attempts.
At “Unlimited Creativity, Co‑drawing the Long Scroll”, families painted together to envision future technology.
These fun interactions turned abstract scientific principles into vivid experiences and gave parents a chance to explore science with their children.
Many visitors praised the enjoyable and educational form of popular science.
This science popularization activity represents a two-way connection between universities and the public.
Leveraging disciplinary strengths, the College of Engineering deepened university-local collaboration and fulfilled its social service mission, providing citizens with a platform to closely experience engineering technology and the charm of innovation.
