From April 20 to 21, Zhang Guihua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Engineering, led Zhang Yanyi, a senior psychological expert, Lin Zhanqiao, Deputy Secretary of the College Youth League Committee, and Wang Wan, full-time League cadre, to Puning Chaoshi Senior High School and Boluo High School in Boluo County successively. They delivered a series of activities including psychological adjustment lectures for Gaokao sprint and university admissions briefings. The activities effectively built a connecting link for collaborative education between universities and high schools, providing scientific exam preparation guidance and emotion regulation methods for more than 700 students, and won unanimous praise from teachers and students.

In the admissions briefing session, Lin Zhanqiao and Wang Wan presented promotional videos to introduce the university’s school-running characteristics, educational philosophy and talent cultivation achievements. They showed students the picturesque campus scenery and unique Chaoshan local customs, advised students to stay calm, prepare earnestly and achieve ideal exam results. Meanwhile, they encouraged students to pay attention to and choose Shantou University when filling in college application forms, and embark on a promising journey together.

The psychological adjustment lecture, themed It’s Not That I’m Incompetent, It’s Just Anxiety That’s Too Loud, focused on common troubles of senior three students amid Gaokao preparation such as anxiety, distraction and insomnia. Through interactive experience, case analysis and practical guidance, the speakers guided students to correctly understand anxiety and accept emotional signals. Targeting different manifestations of anxiety among students, Zhang Yanyi shared practical coping techniques including "micro-actions" and "five-sense training", helping students master psychological adjustment methods, boost confidence for the college entrance examination, and greet the sprint phase with a more positive and composed mindset.

Shantou University’s brand program "Excellent Lectures for High Schools" has been carried out for more than a decade. Relying on the university’s strong faculty resources, nearly 90 themed lectures are tailor-made for key high schools every year, covering psychological adjustment for Gaokao, college application guidance, popularization of academic majors and other fields. The program has been widely recognized and warmly welcomed by teachers and students of all participating high schools.

In the future, Shantou University will continue to leverage its disciplinary strengths and resource advantages, further strengthen communication and coordination with key local high schools, expand enrollment publicity channels, raise the university’s visibility and influence, attract more outstanding students to apply, and support young people to pursue their dreams and grow.
