On the morning of May 7, Yu Hong, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, led a team to conduct research at the College of Engineering, inspecting the implementation of the learning campaign for establishing and practicing a correct view of achievements as well as the development of primary-level Party building work. Zeng Rui, Director of the Organization Department of the University Party Committee, joined the research visit. Members of the Party and administrative leadership of the College of Engineering, Secretaries of all primary-level Party branches, and Party representatives from the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology, Ministry of Education attended the forum exchange session, which was presided over by Lu Zhuobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Engineering.

Yu Hong listened carefully to the college’s reports covering the progress of the learning campaign for a correct view of achievements, the construction progress of the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology, Ministry of Education, and arrangements for Party building work. He affirmed the college’s work outcomes in the previous stage and put forward three requirements for its follow-up work:

First, grasp the core essence and consolidate the ideological foundation for high-quality development through persistent, long-term efforts. Yu Hong pointed out that deviations in the view of achievements are persistent and hidden, so rectification must be sustained to solidify the ideological underpinning of high-quality development. It is necessary to accurately grasp the dialectical relationship between hidden long-term achievements and visible short-term results, effectively reverse the inertial mindset of "judging performance merely by data", and refocus work priorities on the core duty of fostering virtue through education. We should properly handle the dialectical balance between "stability" and "progress", respect the laws of reform, and maintain strategic patience. The correct view of achievements shall be embedded into institutional arrangements: raise the weighting of hidden long-term achievements in assessment and evaluation, allocate more resources to foundational and long-term undertakings, and establish a long-term mechanism to prevent recurring problems in rectification work.

Second, fortify militant bastions and activate the organizational momentum of primary-level Party building by adapting to new trends and fostering innovation. Yu Hong stressed that optimizing organizational setup is an inevitable requirement of the times. Party branches shall be established where innovation thrives most and where major tasks are undertaken at the frontlines. The Party Branch of the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology, Ministry of Education shall precisely define its functional positioning and give full play to three roles: an anchor for political guidance, a vanguard task force for scientific research breakthroughs, and a demonstration zone for fostering virtue through education. The College of Engineering shall take the lead in piloting reforms, act as an experimental field for institutional innovation, and promptly summarize experience from the branch’s operational mechanisms and functional performance to set a benchmark for the whole university in optimizing Party organizational structures.

Third, center on the overall reform agenda and translate the strengths of Party building into competitive edges for development through solid work and courageous accountability. Yu Hong required the college to prioritize key areas and deliver targeted breakthroughs in mechanisms for industry-education integration, team evaluation systems, and organized research models. A systematic thinking framework shall be adopted to advance coordinated progress, with a special supervision mechanism of "one task, one dedicated team, one full-cycle oversight" applied to core assignments including recruitment of top national talents and awards in sci-tech innovation competitions. We shall adhere to the people-centered principle of serving teachers and students and pursue tangible results: fully solicit opinions from faculty and students, establish a working mechanism featuring "advancement, evaluation and readjustment in parallel", and take faculty and student satisfaction as the fundamental yardstick to ensure comprehensive reform achievements are tangible and accessible, making teachers and students genuine beneficiaries and supporters of reform.

During the meeting, Zeng Rui, Director of the University Party Committee Organization Department, awarded a Party flag to the newly founded Party Branch of the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology, Ministry of Education. Yu Ying, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering, conveyed the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions delivered during his inspection tour of Xiongan New Area and the symposium on further advancing high-quality construction and development of Xiongan New Area. Lu Zhuobin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, reported on the development of the learning campaign, while Zhang Jian, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory and Secretary of its Party Branch, presented the laboratory’s construction progress and the branch’s work plan. Participants exchanged views on the learning campaign, college reform and development, laboratory construction, and primary-level Party building work.
