With spring breeze brushing the shore and fresh green sprouting, the Communist Youth League Committee of the School of Engineering, together with the Longhu District Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Longhua Subdistrict Office, organized League members and young volunteers to Fengjiao Village, Longhua Subdistrict, Longhu District for a tree-planting and green-protecting volunteer activity on March 11. The event responded to the call of "Green & Beautiful Guangdong, Youth Take the Lead" and implemented the "Hundred-County-Thousand-Township-One-Village Project", using youthful strength to green the city and let the seeds of ecological civilization take root in practice.

At the planting site, everyone was enthusiastic and energetic. Under the guidance of staff, students dug soil with shovels, supported saplings, filled pits and watered the plants, personally planting magnolia and peach saplings. As part of Longhu District’s greening campaign along roads, rivers, villages and fields, young volunteers helped build pocket parks and green rural areas, bringing new life to rural corners and idle land. When the ropes were untied, the branches stretched freely toward the sky, full of vitality — a moment that felt like releasing life into the world.

After a morning’s work, 100 newly planted saplings took root. By greening the city with their own hands, participants contributed to ecological construction and the "Hundred-County-Thousand-Township-One-Village Project". Watching the saplings stand tall in the wind, everyone looked forward to blooming peach and magnolia flowers decorating the countryside in spring.

Today I joined the voluntary tree-planting activity organized by the school. Digging holes, transplanting, filling soil and watering — these simple actions made me understand afforestation beyond online experiences. Planting saplings and watching them take root deeply connected me with the earth and trees. It not only greened the environment but also made me truly feel the responsibility of protecting ecology. I sincerely hope these saplings grow well and add vitality to Shantou.

I gained a lot from the tree-planting activity in Fengjiao Village. Though I couldn’t understand the local dialect, I learned planting skills from the elders’ hands-on demonstrations. Sweating under the sun, my red volunteer vest stood out in the field. This experience taught me the meaning of hard work and the value of responsibility and hope through sincere cooperation. May the saplings grow toward the sun with us.

I benefited a lot from this tree-planting activity. We cooperated in an orderly way: digging, supporting saplings, filling soil and watering. I thought physical work would be tiring, but working and laughing with friends made it enjoyable and fatigue faded. Seeing the saplings stand firmly gave me a strong sense of achievement. May they grow well in Shantou and make the city greener, helping us understand ecological protection better.

"Green & Beautiful Guangdong, Youth Take the Lead". Through concrete actions, students added green to Longhu District’s ecological construction and planted hope in spring. Going forward, the Communist Youth League Committee of the School of Engineering will continue to organize diverse volunteer activities for the "Hundred-County-Thousand-Township-One-Village Project" and green ecological construction, guiding young League members to be promoters, practitioners and guardians of a green and beautiful Guangdong, contributing youthful strength to a harmonious picture of humans and nature.
