On January 25, the School of Engineering held the 2025 Democratic Life Meeting for Leading Party Cadres at the Sangpushan Campus. Centering on the theme of "Thoroughly studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully carrying out the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, adhering to the resolve and perseverance to fight tough and protracted battles, resolutely implementing the spirit of the Party's eight-point frugality code, advancing the regular and long-term development of conduct building, gathering strength and working solidly with a fine work style, and striving to open up a new phase in the advancement of Chinese modernization", the meeting closely integrated with the actual development of the school, earnestly carried out criticism and self-criticism, and aimed to lead the high-quality development of the school's cause with high-quality Party building.
Leading Party cadres of the school attended the meeting, and members of the Party Committee and organization personnel were present as non-voting participants. Lu Zhuobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, presided over the meeting. Qiu Dongyang, member of the supervision group for the democratic life meeting and Director of the University Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office, attended the meeting for supervision and guidance.
The leading group and its members of the school's Party Committee attached great importance to holding a successful democratic life meeting. Before the meeting, they organized special study and discussion sessions, extensively solicited opinions and suggestions, conducted heart-to-heart talks in earnest, and made in-depth analyses combined with negative typical cases. On this basis, they carefully compiled the control inspection materials and personal speaking outlines, laying a solid foundation for the smooth holding of the democratic life meeting.
The meeting informed the rectification and improvement progress of the learning and education activities on the thorough implementation of the spirit of the Party's eight-point frugality code, as well as the implementation of rectification measures from the 2024 Democratic Life Meeting for school-level leading Party cadres. On behalf of the leading group of the school's Party Committee, Lu Zhuobin conducted an in-depth examination of prominent problems against five key aspects, made a thorough analysis of typical cases, probed into the causes and ideological roots of the problems, and put forward improvement measures and future efforts. He also took the lead in conducting personal control inspections, and other members of the leading group carried out their personal control inspections one by one and conducted mutual criticism. In their speeches, all participants closely focused on the meeting theme and combined it with their personal ideological, learning and work practice. The self-criticism and mutual criticism were sincere and pertinent, achieving the goals of unifying thinking, enhancing unity, mutual supervision and common progress.
Qiu Dongyang made comments on the meeting and affirmed the positive results achieved. At the same time, he put forward three suggestions for doing a good job in the "follow-up work" of the democratic life meeting: first, raise political standing and transform the advantages of Party building leadership into a favorable momentum for the development of the school and the university; second, align with the standards, grasp the general development trend and make overall plans for resource allocation; third, pay close attention to problem rectification, include the identified problems and collected opinions in the list and account, study and formulate feasible measures, clarify the division of responsibilities and rectification time limits, and promote the implementation item by item and close the case upon completion.
Lu Zhuobin delivered a statement of position and put forward four requirements in his concluding speech: first, raise political standing and continuously deepen theoretical armament; second, conduct in-depth analysis of the causes and carry out problem rectification in a "strict and pragmatic" manner; third, focus on the central work and strengthen the sense of responsibility and initiative; fourth, consolidate the main responsibility and foster a upright and clean political ecosystem.
