On the morning of January 25, the School of Engineering held the 2025 Debriefing and Evaluation Meeting for Party Branch Secretaries on Grassroots Party Building Work. The meeting systematically summarized the achievements and experience of grassroots Party building work of all primary-level Party branches in 2025, analyzed the causes of existing problems, and clarified the work ideas and measures for the next step, laying a solid foundation for a good start of the Party building work of the school in 2026. Lu Zhuobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, delivered a comment speech, and Zhang Kailiang, Organization Member of the Party Committee, presided over the meeting.

Lu Zhuobin pointed out that 2025 is the closing year for achieving the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan and also the foundational year for striding forward to the new journey of the 15th Five-Year Plan development. Over the past year, all primary-level Party branches of the school have adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the spirit of the plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee and the spirit of the National Education Congress. They have solidly carried out the learning and education on the thorough implementation of the spirit of the eight central regulations, implemented the "Five Major Projects", and promoted the work of "Model Creation and Quality Excellence" in Party building, providing a strong political and organizational guarantee for the high-quality development of the school.

Lu Zhuobin emphasized that the secretaries of all primary-level Party branches must firmly shoulder the responsibility of the "first person in charge", further enhance political consciousness, ideological consciousness and action consciousness, focus on the main business, forge ahead with determination, work solidly, continuously improve the quality and level of grassroots Party building work of the school, and lead the high-quality development of the school with high-quality Party building.

First, we must reach a new height in deepening theoretical armed forces and consolidating political loyalty. All Party branches must always put the Party's political construction in the first place, continue to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thoughts on Party building, important expositions on education, science and technology, and talent work, as well as the spirit of a series of important speeches and instructions for Guangdong. We will educate and guide all teachers and students to bear in mind the "national priorities", deeply understand the close connection between national strategic needs and the development of engineering science and technology, and consciously integrate their personal research and learning directions into the grand blueprint of serving the construction of a strong manufacturing country and a strong science and technology country.

Second, we must show new achievements in strengthening organizational functions and serving the overall development situation. Taking the opportunity of being selected as a cultivation and creation unit of the fifth batch of "Model Departments and Colleges in Party Building Work" in colleges and universities of the new era in Guangdong Province, and with the implementation of the "Three-Year Action Plan for the Foundation Strengthening Project" as the starting point, all Party branches must benchmark against the standards, and continuously consolidate the standardized and institutionalized construction of the branches. Centering on the planning of the school's 15th Five-Year Plan, and targeting the construction of the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing of the Ministry of Education, the introduction and cultivation of high-level talents, the cultivation of national-level teaching achievement awards and the training of innovative talents and other central tasks, we will design and carry out characteristic activities such as "Party Building + Scientific Research Tackling", "Party Building + Curriculum Ideology and Politics" and "Party Building + Industry-Education Integration", so that Party building work can be deeply integrated into and strongly promote the connotative development of the school.

Third, we must demonstrate new responsibilities in giving play to the leading role and improving service contributions. All Party branches should actively guide Party members of teachers and students to focus on major strategies such as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the development of manufacturing industry as the cornerstone of the economy, especially the industrial development needs of eastern Guangdong. We will promote the deep integration of the "Party Building Chain" with the "Industrial Chain, Talent Chain and Innovation Chain", strengthen the co-construction with Party organizations of iconic enterprises, scientific research institutes and industrial parks in the region, build a collaborative innovation platform for industry-university-research-application, promote the local transformation of scientific research achievements, and improve the effectiveness of Party building leading development and the contribution to regional economic and social development.

Fourth, we must stimulate new driving forces in daring to reform and tackle difficulties and compacting the responsibility chain. The secretaries of all Party branches must firmly establish the concept that "doing a good job in Party building is the greatest political achievement". We will deeply embed Party building work into the whole process of the school's comprehensive reform and optimization of resource allocation, and guide Party members and cadres to take the lead and set an example in reform and tackling difficulties. We will improve and perfect the mechanism for the implementation of Party building responsibilities, establish rectification accounts for the problems identified in the self-examination and comments at this debriefing and evaluation meeting, clarify the time limit, and implement closed-loop management. We will firmly implement the work with the spirit of hammering nails, ensure that Party building work and various tasks of reform, development and stability resonate in the same frequency and work in the same direction, and gather great strength for the school to achieve high-quality development on the new journey.

At the meeting, the secretaries of 3 primary-level Party branches including the Faculty Party Branch of the Department of Civil Engineering gave on-site debriefings in turn, and the secretaries of other primary-level Party branches conducted written debriefings. After the debriefing, an on-site evaluation was held at the meeting. Secretary Lu Zhuobin also conveyed and studied the spirit of the warning education conferences of the education system of Guangdong Province, Shantou City and the university at the meeting.
