On the afternoon of January 15, 2026, the event themed "Special Zone Empowerment Hub: Shenzhen-Shantou Industrial Cooperation Park Enterprises Visit Shantou University" was successfully held at Shantou University. More than 40 enterprise representatives from the Shenzhen-Shantou Industrial Cooperation Park gathered with experts and scholars from Shantou University, launching a two-way in-depth collaboration that fully integrates industrial demands with scientific and technological innovation.

This event was hosted by Shantou University, Shenzhen Counterpart Assistance and Collaboration Headquarters for Shantou, Shantou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Shantou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and undertaken by Haojiang District Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Haojiang District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Haojiang District Industrial Park Office, and Shenzhen Special Zone Construction & Development Sci-Tech Park Development Co., Ltd. The School of Engineering of Shantou University was responsible for the liaison work of the event. Academician Shen Shuilong, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Lu Zhuobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Engineering, attended the event, which was presided over by Lu Zhuobin.

Secretary Lu Zhuobin gave a brief introduction to the School of Engineering to all participants, and extended a warm welcome to the leaders and guests from government departments, enterprises and public institutions on behalf of the university.

In the sharing session, Associate Professor Wei Huaxian from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the School of Engineering analyzed the cutting-edge applications of intelligent soft bodies and intelligent electromechanical systems from a professional perspective, providing new ideas for enterprises' technological innovation. The Municipal Science and Technology Bureau focused on interpreting the Implementation Rules for the Identification of Industry-University-Research Cooperation Projects as Shantou Municipal Science and Technology Plan Projects and Policies for the Identification and Registration of Technology Contracts, clarified the key points of application, and broke down the cognitive barriers and implementation obstacles in school-enterprise cooperation. Shanghai Electric shared real school-enterprise cooperation cases, providing referable cooperation models and experience for the participating enterprises.

Enterprise representatives visited the scientific research platforms and library of Shantou University. The advanced scientific research equipment, strong academic atmosphere and solid teaching and practice achievements fully demonstrated the profound scientific research heritage and education strength of Shantou University.

This event focused on the characteristic leading industries of the industrial cooperation park. It aims to promote enterprises and universities to carry out joint research on core technologies, jointly build innovation platforms, and co-cultivate high-end talents, so as to accelerate the transformation of scientific research achievements into industrial productivity, and achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefit and win-win results.
