On the morning of January 5, 2026, the closing ceremony of the 2025 Graduate Academic Annual Conference of the College of Engineering, Shantou University, was successfully held in the Lecture Hall of the Library on the Sangpushan Campus. Professor Bao Nengsheng, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Ling Siying from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Shi Yi from the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Professor Guo Jianan from the Department of Mechanical Engineering attended the closing ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Lin Zhanqiao, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College of Engineering.
Themed "Research Creates the Future, Wisdom Opens a New Chapter," this annual conference aimed to build an interdisciplinary exchange platform, stimulate graduate students' innovative motivation, align precisely with the national innovation-driven development strategy, and inject new vitality into the College's research endeavors.
01 Address by College Leadership
The closing ceremony commenced with an address by Professor Bao Nengsheng. On behalf of the College, Associate Dean Bao first extended warm congratulations to the students who achieved outstanding results at the annual conference and sincere gratitude to the faculty and students who meticulously prepared for the conference as well as the experts who diligently served as judges. He noted that this conference served both as a comprehensive review of the quality of graduate education and academic standards at the College and as an important practice for stimulating innovative vitality and promoting interdisciplinary exchange. He encouraged graduate students of the College to delve deeply into fundamental research, uphold integrity while pursuing innovation, and devote themselves to research and innovation practice with great enthusiasm, contributing their youthful wisdom to the College's development and the nation's construction.
02 Academic Presentations
Subsequently, the closing ceremony moved to its second agenda item, during which four graduate students who had won first prize in the competition delivered thematic presentations in turn.
He Xuanjiang, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Cohort 2025
The presenter, He Xuanjiang, delivered a presentation titled "A Review of Spatter in Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Melt Pools," providing an in-depth analysis of the spatter phenomenon in DED melt pools and its influencing factors.
Ge Ziyun, Department of Electronic Engineering, Cohort 2024
The presenter, Ge Ziyun, delivered a presentation titled "Epileptic Seizure Detection via TFN-GAT-Based Enhanced EEG Decoding," demonstrating the application value of TFN-GAT-enhanced EEG decoding technology in epileptic seizure detection.
Liu Miao, Department of Civil and Smart Construction Engineering, Cohort 2024
The presenter, Liu Miao, delivered a presentation titled "Design and Performance Study of a Damping-Amplified Damping Device Based on Magnetorheological Elastomers," offering new ideas for the design of damping devices.
Wang Xiaoqiu, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Cohort 2024
The presenter, Wang Xiaoqiu, delivered a presentation titled "A Study of the Bidirectional and Delayed Effects of Different Ultrasound Dosages on Sciatic Nerve Conduction," exploring the relevant topic from a medical perspective and providing a scientific basis for the field of ultrasound therapy.
03 Award Ceremony
After intense competition, a number of outstanding graduate students distinguished themselves in the academic presentation evaluations, winning first, second, and third prizes in the oral presentation competition. Professor Ling Siying from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Shi Yi from the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Professor Guo Jianan from the Department of Mechanical Engineering presented awards to the winning students respectively.
Conclusion
Following the award ceremony, the closing ceremony of the 2025 Graduate Academic Annual Conference of the College of Engineering, Shantou University, came to a successful and joyful conclusion, marked by a group photo of all faculty and student attendees. This annual conference not only provided graduate students with a high-quality platform to showcase their research achievements and engage in academic exchange but also effectively stimulated their enthusiasm for research and innovative spirit.
