To implement the concept of "Three-Whole Education" (whole-staff, whole-process, and all-around education), bridge the "last mile" of student development, establish diverse and open interactive platforms, promote the integration of educational resources into student communities, address student concerns, and foster a harmonious, mutually supportive culture of teaching and learning, the College of Engineering and Jingyi College jointly launched the "Face-to-Face Academic Advisor" activity during the fall semester of 2025. Let us now review the implementation of this activity across the various departments.
Department of Electronic Engineering
From November 2 to December 5, 2025, the "Face-to-Face Academic Advisor" activity of the Department of Electronic Engineering was held successively. Academic advisors including Chen Li, Wu Xianjing, Li Ke, Chen Junbin, Huang Weixin, Wei Zhixiang, and Zou Yanbin participated in the activity through a combination of online and offline formats, addressing the concerns of new students regarding final exam preparation, academic planning, research competitions, and postgraduate entrance examinations as well as recommendations for graduate study without examination.
At the beginning of the activity, Advisors Li Ke and Wei Zhixiang delivered presentations titled "Research on Swarm Intelligence Application Technology" and "Panorama of the Communications Industry and Career Launch," respectively, introducing new students to common research projects within the discipline and raising their awareness of academic and career planning. Advisors Chen Junbin, Huang Weixin, and Zou Yanbin shared their own academic journeys, guiding new students to explore in-depth the approaches and methods for mastering professional knowledge.
At the conclusion of the activity, academic advisors and new students engaged in small-group discussions. Through these intellectual exchanges, students were able to identify suitable paths for professional development and further solidify their future university and career plans.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
From November to December 2025, the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized and conducted the "Face-to-Face Academic Advisor" activity. Academic advisors including Gao Changqing, Guo Jianan, He Jun, Peng Xiongbin, Wu Jiajun, and Zhu Weiwei held face-to-face exchange sessions with students at the Donghai Campus.
The advisors gathered with students at the Donghai Campus, focusing primarily on issues related to freshman adaptation and academic difficulties. Through face-to-face discussions and consultations, they addressed students' questions regarding competitions and research projects, provided effective planning guidance for student participation in competitions and projects, and successfully helped students resolve academic challenges. This support better enabled students to engage in competitions and science and technology innovation projects.
Department of Biomedical Engineering
The "Face-to-Face Academic Advisor" activity of the Department of Biomedical Engineering was successfully held on December 25 at Teaching Building E of the Donghai Campus.
At the beginning of the activity, Advisor Ma Xiangyuan systematically introduced the overall academic pathway from course learning and competition participation to research training and career development. She provided clear guidance on key components such as the Biomedical Engineering Innovation Design Competition and the College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, helping new students understand their options for further study and employment.
Advisor Wang Haifeng advised new students to value a solid academic foundation and to accumulate knowledge steadily. He helped students clarify their academic direction and define their future goals, recommending that they make reasonable use of winter and summer vacations for internships, thereby progressing step by step toward more distant objectives.
The subsequent Q&A session was lively, with students actively raising questions covering practical areas such as internship selection, graduation project design, and initial steps into research. Drawing on their experience, the advisors provided patient and practical answers, offering students considerable inspiration.
Department of Civil and Smart Construction Engineering
From December 10 to December 30, 2025, the "Face-to-Face Academic Advisor" activity of the Department of Civil and Smart Construction Engineering was successfully carried out. Academic advisors including Yan Shuang, Liu Huanlin, Zhang Cuina, Ji Jianyi, Liu Kaifang, An Miao, Wang Chuanlin, Li Chengsheng, Ding Chao, Liu Wenqing, Liu Dong, Zhao LinShuang, and Hou Huiming held exchange sessions at both the Donghai Campus and the Sangpushan Campus.
At the event, academic advisors conducted one-on-one conversations with students to understand their learning and living situations since enrollment. Students raised questions regarding recent difficulties in professional coursework and how to plan their studies in civil engineering and architecture. The academic advisors provided detailed answers, addressing issues from the perspectives of curriculum design, talent cultivation, and social demand. Their explanations helped students better understand the content of their majors, further resolved their academic queries, and assisted them in structuring their academic plans, laying a foundation for the next phase of their studies.
Through the jointly organized "Face-to-Face Academic Advisor" activity, the College of Engineering and Jingyi College successfully bridged the "last mile" of student development, effectively establishing communication and connections between academic advisors and students, and strengthening interaction and exchange between faculty and students. Moving forward, the College of Engineering and Jingyi College will continue to deepen brand development, strengthen the "Three-Whole Education" approach, and contribute to the nation's efforts to build a powerful country and achieve national rejuvenation.
