On the afternoon of December 31, 2025, the College of Engineering held a simple yet warm retirement ceremony for Professors Shen Shuilong, Zhuang Zhemin, and Jiang Yongquan, who retired this year. The ceremony took place in Room 412, West Engineering Building. Attendees included the College’s leadership, department heads, and faculty representatives. Secretary Zheng Zaixin presided over the ceremony.

Secretary Zheng Zaixin introduced each of the retiring faculty members present. Having devoted themselves to teaching and research in their respective professional fields, these professors have nurtured numerous outstanding students equipped with both innovative spirit and practical abilities, thereby laying a solid foundation for disciplinary development and talent cultivation at the College of Engineering. Their noble teaching ethics and willingness to dedicate themselves fully exemplify the honorable image of educators in the new era. Through their actions, they have embodied the profound principle that “a teacher of high learning sets an example by upright conduct,” establishing a benchmark for professional ethics and conduct at the College of Engineering.

Subsequently, Secretary Zheng Zaixin and the department heads presented flowers and commemorative plaques to the retiring faculty members, followed by a group photo.

During the ceremony, a collection of photographs and a video of good wishes, carefully compiled by the College, were screened. Each retiring faculty member delivered a farewell speech, reflecting on their memorable moments at Shantou University and expressing gratitude to their colleagues, the College, and the University. They shared their hopes for the continued development and improvement of both the College and the University. Faculty members in attendance recalled and shared many warm anecdotes of how the retiring professors had assisted younger colleagues in research and teaching, and they extended their heartfelt best wishes to the retirees.

In closing, Secretary Zheng Zaixin, on behalf of the College, thanked the retiring faculty members for their contributions and congratulated them on embarking on a new chapter in their lives. He also expressed the hope that they would often return to visit the College.
