Zhuang Zhemin holds a Doctor of Engineering degree, and is a Second-Class Professor and doctoral supervisor. He is a dual-appointed professor at the College of Engineering and the First Affiliated Hospital of Medical College, and the academic leader of Electronic Information discipline. He founded and serves as the director of Guangdong Provincial Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Modern Ultrasound Engineering Technology, director of Shantou University Joint Innovation Laboratory of Intelligent Ultrasound Technology, and chairman of Shantou Electronic Society. He has been selected into the Outstanding Talent Program of Shantou University as a Top-notch Talent twice.

He is a peer review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, a review expert for Guangdong provincial science and technology projects, an expert for special fund projects of university discipline construction and professional technical qualification evaluation in Guangdong Province, and a member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Electrical Majors of Guangdong Undergraduate Universities. He has long served as Head of Electronic Engineering Department, Vice Dean and Secretary of General Party Branch of the College of Engineering.

He acts as a reviewer for domestic and international academic journals including IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Pattern Recognition Letters, Journal of Metrology, Journal of Sensor Technology, Journal of Test and Measurement Technology, and Journal of Applied Science.

His long-term research interests include artificial intelligence, medical image processing, and wireless sensor networks. In recent years, he has presided over more than 20 various scientific research projects, including General Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Major Science and Technology Special Projects of Guangdong Province, Key Projects of Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and enterprise cooperative projects, with a total research fund of over 10 million RMB. He has published more than 80 academic papers in domestic and international journals and conferences, among which over 40 papers are indexed by SCI. He has obtained more than 10 patents. He has won numerous provincial, municipal and university-level teaching and research awards, including Excellent Teacher of South Guangdong, First Prize and Second Prize of Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, and Shantou Municipal Famous Teacher.
