Abstract:
The ocean harbors abundant energy and resources. Under the strategic guidance of China's "Maritime Power" initiative, the development of ocean-oriented equipment, marine environmental monitoring, and energy utilization face a series of significant opportunities and challenges. Since joining Sun Yat-sen University in April 2021, Dr. Wang Jiaqi has conducted research focusing on intelligent marine environmental perception, indoor environmental simulation, and marine energy harvesting, achieving a series of advancements. This presentation will introduce these research progresses and the development of his laboratory. In the area of intelligent marine environmental perception, the talk will primarily present methodologies and approaches that leverage triboelectric nanogenerator technology to achieve integrated energy and information multi-parameter marine environmental sensing, including triboelectric-driven "mechanical–electrical–optical" coupled ocean detection. In the area of marine environmental simulation, the talk will focus on a multi-environmental-factor simulation platform empowered by integrated "optical–mechanical–electrical–computational" technologies and its application value in assessing the environmental adaptability of industrial products. In the area of marine energy harvesting, the presentation will mainly introduce a recently developed rope-driven hybrid triboelectric–electromagnetic power generation system. Finally, the speaker will synthesize and summarize these research outcomes and offer perspectives on potential future opportunities and innovative applications.
Biography:
Dr. Wang Jiaqi is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Sun Yat-sen University. He serves as the Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Industrial Product Environmental Adaptability (Marine Environmental Technology and Engineering), is a recipient of the Guangdong Provincial Major Talent Program for Young Scholars, holds a Guangdong Provincial Talent Youyue Card (Type B), and is a Sun Yat-sen University Xian Shan Scholar (Emerging Scholar). He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and his Ph.D. from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, after which he conducted postdoctoral research at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Wang has long been engaged in research on intelligent instrumentation development, intelligent optoelectronic detection, and environmental energy harvesting systems. He has proposed principles and methods for integrating triboelectric energy harvesting with optoelectronic technologies and has applied these to fields such as ocean observation, achieving the integration of energy and information. He has pioneered several cutting-edge technologies, including triboelectric-driven liquid crystal sensing technology, spatiotemporally compressed triboelectric discharge technology, and triboelectric instantaneous discharge electromagnetic wave and laser synchronous radiation technology, among others. He has established the Laboratory for Intelligent Perception and Self-Powered Systems, integrating four technology platforms: "optical, mechanical, electrical, and computational." In recent years, as first author and corresponding author (including co-authorship), he has published 16 SCI-indexed papers in journals including Science Advances (a subsidiary of Science), Advanced Materials, Advanced Science, Nano Energy, ACS Nano, SusMat, and Chemical Engineering Journal. He has filed 9 patents (6 granted), obtained one software copyright, and received the InterPACK & ICNMM Best Paper Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He has led and participated in multiple national and provincial research projects, undertaken several industry-commissioned projects, and serves as a reviewer for journals including Nano Energy.
