About the Speaker:

Professor Shi Zhaoyao is a Professor at the College of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Beijing University of Technology. He is a Distinguished Professor under the "Changjiang Scholar" Program of the Ministry of Education (2011), a recipient of the Special Government Allowance of the State Council (2014), a Strategic Science and Technology Talent of Beijing Municipality, a leading figure in China's gear industry, a National Machinery Industry Innovation Talent, and the lead of a National Machinery Industry Innovation Team. He also serves as a member of the National Expert Committee on Industrial Infrastructure, a member of the International Organization for Standardization's Gear Committee (ISO/TC60), Chairman of the National Standardization Technical Committee on Reducers (SAC/TC357), Deputy Chairman of the National Gear Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC52), a member of the Expert Committee of the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, a member of the Standardization Technical Committee on Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a member of the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), Chairman of the Mechanical Quantity Testing Instruments Branch of the China Instrument and Control Society, and Vice Chairman of the Gear and Electric Drive Branch of the China General Machine Components Industry Association, among other positions.

He has received the second-class National Science and Technology Progress Award twice, the first-class Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award once, the first-class or special-class China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award four times, and the China Good Design Gold Award. At Beijing University of Technology, he has established research directions in precision measurement and precision transmission, which have gained high recognition both domestically and internationally. In the fields of precision transmission and precision machinery, precision reducers and robot joints, micro-gears and micro-manufacturing, measurement technology and instrumentation, and accuracy theory and standards, he has resolved numerous critical bottlenecks, produced a series of innovative achievements, and facilitated widespread applications in major equipment and consumer products. These accomplishments have delivered substantial economic and social benefits and have driven progress in relevant industries in China. He has long been involved in the formulation of international standards, contributing to a stronger voice for China in international standardization efforts. He has led the development of 8 national standards, participated in the formulation of 18 international and national standards, been granted 126 invention patents, published nearly 200 papers, and authored 5 monographs.

All faculty, staff, and graduate students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as undergraduate students from the Sangpu Mountain Campus, are required to attend. Faculty and students from the College of Engineering and other schools and departments across the university are cordially welcome to join.
