As a frontline educator, Wang Chuanlin has always regarded teaching as his core mission and has actively promoted teaching research and educational reform. He has led 7 provincial and university-level teaching projects, including the Ministry of Education Industry-University Collaborative Education Project and Guangdong Provincial Teaching Reform Project. He has published 7 teaching research papers in high-level journals such as Higher Architectural Education. As project leader and core member, he has received 2 Second Prizes of the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award and 4 Shantou University Teaching Achievement Awards.
In course development, he strives for excellence and pursues quality. The course Building Information Modeling (BIM), which he led, was designated as a Guangdong Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Course, and Structural Mechanics I was selected as a Shantou University First-Class Undergraduate Course. He has also developed 1 provincial-level online open course and 1 Shantou University "AI + Course" project, and has won one First Prize and one Second Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Online Teaching Case Award.
"Letting students grow through practice" has been Wang Chuanlin's consistent commitment in guiding discipline competitions. He deeply integrates professional teaching with discipline competitions, incorporating competition assessments into the course evaluation system and building a practical education platform. Over 300 students participate in the competition selection process each year, covering prestigious events such as the National College Structural Design Competition, the National University BIM Graduation Design Innovation Competition, and the National College Structural Design Information Technology Competition. Since joining the faculty, he has guided students to win over 70 competition awards, including more than 40 national-level awards, with multiple national first prizes and provincial special prizes. He has been repeatedly recognized as an "Outstanding Advisor," providing attentive guidance to support students' growth and success.
Pursuing Research with Dedication, Focusing on National Strategy, Scaling Academic Peaks
Grounded in the national "Dual Carbon" strategy and the maritime power strategy, Wang Chuanlin, with a strong sense of responsibility as a Party member, devotes himself to research in key areas including ultra-high-performance concrete, concrete material performance in marine environments, and BIM technology applications. He has led and participated in 7 national and provincial research projects, covering key initiatives such as the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation General Project and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology Young Innovative Talent Project. As first or corresponding author, he has published over 40 papers in high-level domestic and international journals, with more than ten indexed by SCI and EI. Through his solid research achievements, he contributes academic strength to the development of civil engineering and intelligent construction.
Wang Chuanlin adheres to the principle of feeding research back into teaching, precisely aligning student interests with research directions, and guiding both undergraduate and graduate students into cutting-edge research topics. He has supervised 13 national, provincial, and university-level College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program projects. Many students have participated in national and provincial research projects and published academic papers in important domestic and international journals, completing the transition from classroom learning to research practice. Under his dedicated mentorship, numerous outstanding students have successfully been admitted to top domestic universities such as Tongji University, Hunan University, and Central South University for graduate studies, or have pursued further education at renowned overseas institutions, growing into promising talents in the fields of civil engineering and intelligent construction.
