College of Engineering Hosts "Puzzle Workshop: Decoding the Science Museum" Themed Activity

The 2026 Shantou Science Popularization Carnival was held on the morning of May 30 at the Shantou Science and Technology Museum. As one of the co-organizers of this year's Carnival, the College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Shantou Science and Technology Museum, launched a themed science popularization activity titled "Puzzle Workshop: Decoding the Science Museum." The activity took the form of a lantern riddle-solving challenge, igniting young people's passion for scientific exploration and promoting the deep integration of science education with China's outstanding traditional culture.

Lantern Riddles Meet Science — One Hall, One Knowledge

The activity broke away from the conventional, often dry model of science communication by creatively integrating traditional lantern riddle culture with museum exhibits and core scientific principles. Moving beyond mere one-way knowledge dissemination, the event adopted "riddle-solving and exploration challenges" as its central format. Science-themed riddles were set up across five featured exhibition halls — Chaozhou-origin Scientists, Shantou Science and Technology Development History, Science Discovery Park, Simulated Human Anatomy Laboratory, and AI Experience Hall — following the principle of "one hall, one theme; one riddle, one piece of knowledge." This approach empowered science education with traditional cultural elements, making scientific knowledge both fun and accessible.

Family Learning Together, Enjoying Science

The atmosphere was lively and warm, with volunteers guiding young participants to think independently and progress through the challenges in an orderly manner. They also explained the scientific principles and knowledge behind each riddle, truly achieving the goal of "learning through play and gaining insight through learning." By synchronizing engaging puzzle-solving with knowledge acquisition, the event substantially enhanced the effectiveness of science popularization.

Inspiring Wisdom through Science, Cultivating Character through Culture

The "Puzzle Workshop: Decoding the Science Museum" activity skillfully integrated lantern riddle culture, AI science communication, and parent-child interactive models. It not only enhanced communication between parents and children but also further promoted the deep integration of science education and cultural heritage. The event guided young people to cultivate a sense of patriotism, ignite their passion for scientific innovation, and improve their overall scientific literacy.
