Industry-Education Integration Strengthens Disciplines, University-Enterprise Collaboration Opens New Prospects

College of Engineering Launches Enterprise Visits and Job Expansion Campaign in Shenzhen and Foshan

From May 28 to 30, Lu Zhuobin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Engineering, led a delegation to Shenzhen and Foshan for a special campaign of visiting enterprises and expanding job opportunities. Professors Bao Nengsheng and Ye Weilin, as well as counselors Xiao Yingjie and Yu Yijing, joined the visit.
Focusing on key tasks including expanding internship and employment channels, tapping the potential of industry-education integration, and promoting interdisciplinary empowerment, the delegation visited universities, scientific and technological innovation platforms and frontline enterprises. They closely aligned with industrial needs, actively expanded internship and employment positions, and explored new paths for university-enterprise cooperation, integration of science and education, and high-quality talent development.

Mutual Learning and Exploration of New Paths for Collaborative Education

At the Lihu Campus of Shenzhen University, the delegation held a discussion with relevant teams of Shenzhen University. Chen Xin, Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, and Dong Lei, Deputy Director of the Medical Innovation Achievement Transformation Center, attended the exchange.
Accompanied by leaders of the School of Biomedical Engineering, the delegation visited Shenzhen Institute of Technology and Innovation, gaining on-site insights into its development in innovation and entrepreneurship education, hardware technology innovation, scientific and technological project incubation, and achievement transformation.
The Shenzhen University team introduced their practices in integrating engineering education with medical device innovation through teaching reform and university-enterprise cooperation. The two sides exchanged views on cultivating students’ engineering practical capabilities under the emerging engineering framework, integration of biomedical engineering disciplines, interdisciplinary project incubation, and innovative industry-university-research collaborative education models, exploring new ways to organically combine real industrial needs, innovation and entrepreneurship training, and talent cultivation.

Signing and Inauguration of New Internship and Practice Bases

At Shenzhen Xin Xin Teng Technology Co., Ltd., the delegation toured the enterprise’s R&D and production facilities, learning about its development history, core businesses, technological innovation, product applications and talent demands. Zheng Guorong, Chairman of the company, Dong Laocheng, Co-founder, Huang Dejin, Head of Product R&D Center, Xu Bingkun, Head of Human Resources, Yu Haitao, Head of Overseas R&D, and other representatives attended the discussion.
The two sides exchanged views on technological R&D, internship base construction, joint talent training and scientific research project cooperation, with focused discussions on AI algorithm development, industrial robot applications and other technical fields, as well as pathways for technological achievement transformation and joint research projects.
On site, the College of Engineering of Shantou University and Shenzhen Xin Xin Teng Technology Co., Ltd. signed an internship base construction agreement and held an inauguration ceremony. The establishment of the internship base will further expand practical platforms for students, providing strong support for them to gain frontline enterprise experience, improve engineering practical capabilities and enhance employment competitiveness.

Visiting Enterprises to Align with Needs and Gather Synergy for Collaborative Development

At Guangdong Esquel Textiles Co., Ltd., the delegation investigated the model of an international textile and apparel science and technology innovation park jointly built by government and enterprises, learning in detail about the enterprise’s development and exploration in intelligent manufacturing, green textiles and talent development.
Huang Kunyu, Chief Human Resources Officer of Esquel Group, Ke Hui, Deputy Director of Human Resources, Zhang Runming, Chief Engineer, Li Yulian, Deputy Manager of Human Resources, and other representatives attended the discussion. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on equipment development, internships and joint R&D, with focused discussions on potential cooperation in robot applications, intelligent manufacturing and green textiles.
At an alumni symposium, college leaders had cordial talks with alumni working in the enterprise. Alumni shared their career development and industrial practice experience, putting forward valuable suggestions for the college’s talent cultivation and student employment guidance. The college thanked alumni for their long-term care and support for the alma mater’s development, and hoped that alumni would continue to serve as a bridge based on the frontier of intelligent manufacturing, helping the college deepen cooperation with industrial enterprises for common development.

In-Depth Research to Expand High-Quality Employment Channels

Guangdong Zhike Future Technology Group Co., Ltd. has profound expertise in intelligent control and core home appliance components. During the visit, the delegation inspected the enterprise’s R&D environment and technological innovation platforms, and held discussions with Chairman Li Baiyao, Chen Zhong, Executive Dean of the Innovation Research Institute, Jia Jie, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Committee, Zheng Haizhou, Commissioner of the Science and Technology Innovation Committee, and other senior executives and technical backbones, precisely aligning with the enterprise’s requirements for professional skills and comprehensive qualities of engineering graduates.
The two sides discussed technical applications including intelligent control, IoT remote operation and maintenance, and industrial equipment automation. Based on industrial development and recruitment reality, the enterprise pointed out the urgent demand for interdisciplinary talents in the current industry, expressing hope to explore a two-way flow model of “enterprise engineers entering campus for guidance” and “teachers and students stationed in enterprises for project research”, and further strengthen cooperation with the college in talent cultivation, joint projects and technological R&D.
Regarding future cooperation, the two sides exchanged views on student internships and employment, joint training, joint projects, and on-site practice of teachers and students. Consensus was reached on refining students’ engineering capabilities and professional literacy through real enterprise application scenarios, further expanding high-quality employment resources, and promoting interdisciplinary integration.
This special campaign is an important measure for the College of Engineering to proactively align with local industrial development needs, solidly promote employment work, and a concrete practice to deepen industry-education integration and enhance social service capacity. Going forward, the College of Engineering will continue to advance industry-education integration in depth, empower high-quality full employment through high-level discipline construction, and strive to write a new chapter in collaborative education.
