On April 25, three intangible cultural heritage inheritors from Teacher Huang Anran’s team visited the Skillful Creation Praising Integrity, Porcelain Grace Bringing Pure Breeze handicraft workshop co-hosted by the College of Engineering and Jingyi Academy, leading participants in an immersive Chaoshan porcelain painting class. Students traced lines and applied colors on porcelain plates by hand, where steady hands and upright minds were required for every stroke — symbolizing that only integrity and righteousness can lead to long-term success. The distinct layers of glaze, clear and unclouded, mirrored the importance of drawing a clear line between purity and corruption.
On the same day, the intangible cultural heritage experience continued at the East Coast Campus through an open booth activity. Two experience zones were set up on the first-floor open space of Dormitory Building B: canvas bag painting and integrity-themed bookmark design. With integrity as the theme and purity as the color, students created freely on plain white canvas bags and bookmarks, integrating the virtue of “uprightness and cleanness” into daily items, allowing integrity culture to take root in life through hands-on practice.
This activity organically integrated intangible cultural heritage skills with integrity education, guiding students to cultivate upright character in the process of creation. The College of Engineering and Jingyi Academy will collectively display porcelain paintings, canvas bags and bookmark works from both campuses.
From the “purity and cleanness” of underglaze blue and white to the “uprightness and dignity” of craftsmanship inheritance, the story of intangible heritage, craftsmanship, and the dialogue between youth and tradition continues to unfold.
