In March, the School of Engineering and Jingyi College launched a series of volunteer service activities themed "Acting with Lei Feng Spirit in the School of Engineering · Volunteering Together". Focusing on university-community cooperation, practical education, ecological protection, red heritage inheritance, care for the elderly, and campus services, the college organized young volunteers to carry out 9 themed activities and a variety of routine volunteer services. The series covered multiple scenarios including campus, communities, villages and parks, formed an optimized plan for targeted assistance, and built a practical education brand through university-community collaboration.

On March 11, the Youth League Committee of the School of Engineering, together with the Longhu District Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Longhua Subdistrict Office, organized League members and young people to carry out tree-planting and green-protection volunteer services in Fengjiao Village, Longhua Subdistrict, Longhu District. Volunteers worked in division of labor to plant 100 magnolia and peach saplings, participated in the greening campaign of "Four Sides" and "Five Edges" in Longhu District, supporting the construction of pocket parks and rural greening.

On March 20, the themed market "Acting with Lei Feng Spirit in the School of Engineering · Volunteering Together" was held at Aihua Middle School. Adopting a "mission check-in" model, the event set up six distinctive stalls integrating intangible cultural heritage experiences and volunteer practice. Students could collect stamps with their "Lei Feng Mission Card" to exchange for cultural and creative products. Volunteers tempered their professional abilities through practical activities, while middle school students comprehended the Lei Feng Spirit through immersive experiences.

On March 20, the first session of "Party and League Joining Hands to Pass the Torch, Red Spirit Nurturing Young Hearts" was held at Aihua Middle School. The event included red Party lectures and interactive sessions: stories of young role models such as Lei Feng and Qian Xuesen were shared, family letters of revolutionary martyrs including Zhao Yiman and Zuo Quan were recited, and immersive experiences such as red puzzles, AR picture books, red song solitaire and time-space postcards were arranged to make red stories deeply rooted in the mind. Students were deeply touched and expressed their determination to follow the examples of the predecessors and serve the country.

On March 28, the "Red Star Pilot Group" and Young Volunteers Association of the School of Engineering organized volunteers to enter Lianxing Community and Fuchang Community for in-home elderly care services, providing targeted assistance to empty-nesters, disabled and elderly residents including cleaning, grocery shopping and company. Meanwhile, a volunteer service survey was conducted to sort out key issues such as service hours, dialect communication, material preparation and demand investigation, forming an optimized plan for targeted assistance.

The Young Volunteers Association of the School of Engineering organized volunteers to carry out wall painting in Dahua Subdistrict to beautify the community environment; volunteers regularly cleaned up garbage at Sangpu Mountain and East Coast Park to protect the urban ecology. On campus, volunteers standardized vehicle parking and cleaned public areas of dormitories to create a tidy and livable space. The multi-point efforts of on-campus and off-campus services effectively improved environmental quality and promoted the normalization of volunteer services.

Relying on the League Member Model Posts, the School of Engineering and Jingyi College carried out academic tutoring and experience sharing covering various professional courses, fostering a mutual-support learning atmosphere. Meanwhile, volunteers were organized to manage public spaces such as reading rooms, dance studios and gymnasiums to ensure the orderly operation of campus services.

This Learning from Lei Feng Volunteer Service Month took university-community cooperation as a link and integrated practical education into multi-scenario services. It not only provided targeted assistance to the public, but also guided young students to temper their sense of responsibility through service. The School of Engineering and Jingyi College will continue to deepen the connotation of volunteer services, promote the normalization and long-term development of Learning from Lei Feng activities, and guide young students to hone their abilities, take on responsibilities and contribute in service practice.
