School of Engineering Holds "Following Red Footprints, Forging Faithful Souls" Theme Party Day

From March 25 to 26, the School of Engineering organized faculty and student Party members to travel to Zhangzhou, Fujian, for the "Following Red Footprints, Forging Faithful Souls" theme Party Day. Aimed at on-site study and teaching, the event aimed to guide Party members to reflect on history through field visits and temper their Party spirit in practice.

Paying Homage to Revolutionary Sites

Revisiting the Extraordinary Years

On the site of the establishment of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Fujian, faculty and student Party members attended a special on-site teaching session. In December 1927, the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China was established here, unifying the Party's organizational system across Fujian for the first time. Everyone paused to view historical materials and exhibits, reflecting on the glorious journey of Fujian's Party organizations in their arduous development amid white terror, and deeply appreciating the lofty spirit of revolutionary ancestors who remained faithful to their beliefs and bravely shouldered their missions.

All Party members visited the Memorial Hall of the Red Army's Conquest of Zhangzhou Led by Chairman Mao (Zhi Shan Red Building). In 1932, Comrade Mao Zedong led the East Route Army of the Red Army to conquer Zhangzhou, consolidating the Central Soviet Area. The precious cultural relics and historical photos in the hall vividly reproduced the glorious history of the Red Army's Eastern Expedition. All faculty and student Party members intuitively felt the hardship of achieving revolutionary victory and further strengthened their ideals and beliefs.

Exploring the "Jinggang Mountains of Southern Fujian"

Inheriting the Spirit of Struggle

Chebencun, hailed as the "Jinggang Mountains of Southern Fujian," is the core area of the Jinghepu Revolutionary Base. Revolutionary ancestors such as Deng Zihui and Wang Zhanzhang once carried out armed struggles here, and the Third Red Regiment fought bravely here, composing a heroic epic.

In Chebencun, faculty and student Party members paid homage to revolutionary sites, listened to revolutionary stories, and learned in detail about the extraordinary years when revolutionary ancestors established revolutionary bases and carried out armed struggles in extremely difficult environments. Party members deeply experienced the revolutionary spirit of fearlessness of sacrifice, perseverance, and loyal dedication of revolutionary ancestors, and profoundly recognized that the red political power was hard-won and the happy life in the new era was hard-won, further strengthening their conviction to unswervingly follow the Party.

Reflections from Party Members

This event was a profound education and source of inspiration for me. At the site of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Fujian, I revisited the extraordinary years when Fujian's Party organizations unified the revolutionary leadership across the province; at the Memorial Hall of the Red Army's Conquest of Zhangzhou Led by Chairman Mao, the brilliant achievements of Comrade Mao Zedong leading the army on the Eastern Expedition further strengthened my ideals and beliefs; visiting Chebencun, the "Jinggang Mountains of Southern Fujian," the tragic story of the Third Red Regiment's fierce battle made me deeply understand the noble character of Communists who fear sacrifice and bravely assume their missions. I will transform the spiritual strength gained from learning into practical actions of solid work and dedication, contributing the strength of Party members to the construction of a powerful country.

— Zhang Zhihui, Undergraduate of Civil Engineering, Grade 2022

This red education and cultural exploration trip to Zhangzhou was a spiritual baptism for me. From the red cultural context in Zhangzhou Ancient City to the revolutionary 火种 in Chebencun, I deeply realized that the red political power was hard-won, and more clearly defined my responsibilities and missions as a probationary member of the Communist Party of China. I will strive to internalize the striving spirit of Southern Fujian and the red genes of Chebencun, and forge ahead on the journey of the new era to practice the original aspiration and mission of Party members.

— Zhao Yihan, Postgraduate of Biomedical Engineering, Grade 2024

Staying True to the Original Aspiration

Forging Ahead on a New Journey

This theme Party Day is both a vivid Party history education and a profound ideological tempering. Faculty and student Party members stated that they would take this event as an opportunity to inherit the red bloodline, carry forward the revolutionary spirit, transform learning achievements into practical actions for undertaking responsibilities and striving for success, and contribute vanguard forces to the construction of a powerful country.
