Since its preparation, the conference has included an Academic Poster Competition and four academic presentation competitions for different professional categories, with more than 30 participants and over 60 entries, attracting a total of more than 800 participants. Let's now look back at this splendid academic feast.

Opening Ceremony

On the morning of December 6, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Postgraduate Academic Annual Conference hosted by the College of Engineering was successfully held in the Library Lecture Hall. Professor Bao Nengsheng, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering of Shantou University, and Associate Professor Lai Liyang attended the event, which was hosted by Lin Zhanqiao, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College of Engineering.

Associate Professor Lai Liyang delivered a keynote report entitled The Origin and Application of Design for Testability in Chips at the ceremony. After the report, Professor Bao Nengsheng, Associate Professor Lai Liyang and postgraduate representatives of the college held an academic salon on the topic of chip design. Students actively asked questions and sought advice from the two professors, creating a warm atmosphere at the salon.

Mechanical Engineering Department Sub-venue

On December 12, the Oral Presentation Competition at the sub-venue of the Department of Mechanical Engineering officially kicked off in Teaching Building E. Teachers Zhang Jiayang, Wu Jiajun and Ye Weilin served as judges for the competition.

A total of 7 students were recommended to participate in the Oral Presentation Competition at this sub-venue. The participants took the stage with their research projects on mechanical transmission, precision molds and other topics, showcasing their latest scientific research achievements.

At the end of the session, the judges emphasized the core position of mechanical engineering in the modern manufacturing industry, and encouraged students to closely integrate theory with practice and continuously improve their mechanical innovation capabilities.

Electronic Engineering Department Sub-venue

On December 13, the Department of Electronic Engineering held its sub-venue Oral Presentation Competition under the theme Focusing on the Frontier of Electronics, Innovation Leads the Future. The selected entries covered multiple fields including the research and development of new semiconductor devices, the optimization of high-efficiency communication technologies, and the design of intelligent electronic systems. Teachers Shi Yi and Zou Yanbin from the Department of Electronic Engineering served as judges, and provided professional and detailed comments on the presenting participants from the aspects of technological innovation, practical application value, and the depth and breadth of the research.

At the end of the event, the teachers highly affirmed the students' active participation and innovative spirit, pointed out the deficiencies in their research, and encouraged everyone to continue exploring in future scientific research and inject new vitality into the development of the electronic engineering field.

Biomedical Engineering Department Sub-venue

On December 18, the Oral Presentation Competition at the sub-venue of the Department of Biomedical Engineering was held as scheduled in Teaching Building E, with 5 students recommended to deliver oral presentations on site. The presentations covered multiple research directions including the innovation of biomedical imaging technology, the research and development of intelligent medical equipment, and the modification research of biomaterials. Judges Teacher Zhou Benqing and Teacher Xing Yanghui provided comprehensive comments and guidance from multiple perspectives such as biocompatibility and clinical practicability. They emphasized that the biomedical engineering major needs to be integrated with industry, academia and research, and encouraged students to actively explore and innovate to better transform scientific research achievements into practical applications and promote the implementation of results.

Department of Civil and Intelligent Construction Engineering Sub-venue

On December 20, a total of 11 students from the Department of Civil and Intelligent Construction Engineering were recommended to enter the department's sub-venue for oral presentations. Centering on the theme The Future of Intelligent Construction, the presenters showcased cutting-edge academic content including green building design schemes, the application of intelligent construction technology, and the optimized design of civil engineering structures.

Judges Chen Sixin and Huang Jiezhong provided detailed comments on the entries from the aspects of building safety, energy conservation and environmental protection performance, and the level of intelligence. At the same time, the teachers encouraged students to keep pace with the times, continue to innovate, better integrate intelligent elements into civil engineering, and create a more intelligent, green and safe built environment.

Closing Ceremony

On the afternoon of December 27, the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 2024 Postgraduate Academic Annual Conference of the College of Engineering was held in the Library Lecture Hall. Associate Professor Ye Weilin, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering of Shantou University, Professor Wei Chuliang, Associate Professor Li Ke, Associate Professor Shi Yi from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Associate Professor Zhou Benqing and Teacher Xing Yanghui from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Teacher Wu Jiajun from the Department of Mechanical Engineering were invited to attend the closing ceremony.

After preliminary evaluation and recommendation by the judges of each department's sub-venue, four students—Liu Weixin from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Zhao Yihan from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Duan Lifu from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Zhao Yuling from the Department of Civil and Intelligent Construction Engineering, as the top winners of each sub-venue—were invited to deliver academic presentations at the closing ceremony. They fully demonstrated their professional characteristics and scientific research level, presented their distinctive and exciting research topics and content to the guests and audience on site, and delivered an academic feast for everyone.

After the presentations, the guest teachers announced the winners of each competition of the academic annual conference in turn and presented the awards. In this academic annual conference, every participant demonstrated the scientific literacy and scientific spirit of the postgraduates of the College of Engineering through their unique research perspectives and in-depth research results.
