Biography

Dr. Rongbin ZHANG, born in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, China, is a Lecturer and Master Supervisor in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Shantou University. He received his B.Eng. degree in Information Engineering from South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 2012, M.Eng. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from SCUT in 2015, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from City University of Hong Kong (CityU HK) in 2020. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Postgraduate Innovation Fund of SCUT (Excellent Professional Practice Postgraduate).

Since November 2020, he has been teaching at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Shantou University. His research focuses on wireless communication resource optimization, signal processing, and performance analysis, including wireless resource allocation, beamforming/precoder design optimization, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), cooperative communications, and interference management for heterogeneous networks. His research aims to improve resource utilization efficiency and reliability of various wireless communication systems.

His research results have been published in top academic journals and conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing (TSP), IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT), IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IoTJ), IEEE Communications Letters (CL), IEEE Signal Processing Letters (SPL), and IEEE GLOBECOM. He has presided over 2 projects of the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation. He serves as a review expert for the Guangdong Provincial Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund and a reviewer for numerous top IEEE journals, including IEEE TSP, IEEE TWC, IEEE TCOMM, IEEE TVT, IEEE TGCN, IEEE CL, IEEE SPL, and IEEE WCL. He was awarded the title of "Excellent Head Teacher" of Shantou University for the 2024-2025 academic year.

He has successfully guided his students to win numerous awards in various discipline competitions, including the 3rd Prize in the National "Huawei Cup" Postgraduate Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition, the 2nd Prize in the "Datang Cup" National College Student New Generation Information and Communication Technology Competition, and the 1st Prize in the East China Division of the National College Student Internet of Things Design Competition.
