Lei Zhao, PhD, Master’s Supervisor. He received his PhD degree in Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in January 2018. He has participated in various projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Delta Fund Project, and projects supported by China Electric Power Research Institute, and has published more than 20 SCI/EI-indexed papers.

Main Research Interests

Power electronic devices feature high efficiency, high power density, and high reliability, and are widely applied in new energy power generation, electric vehicles, rail transit, aerospace, industrial production, medical equipment and other fields, with broad application prospects. His research mainly focuses on topologies and control strategies of high-performance power electronic converters. He has completed the research and development of multiple power electronic devices and achieved certain research outcomes. At present, his research is concentrated in the following three directions:

  1. Research on high-efficiency circuit topologies

    Investigation of novel high-efficiency circuit topologies with soft-switching characteristics to improve power utilization efficiency and expand the application scope of power electronics technology.

  2. Optimal design methods for converters under extreme environments

    Study on optimal design approaches for converters under extreme operating conditions such as wide temperature ranges and wide input/output voltage ranges to enhance the operational reliability of equipment.

  3. Data-driven extraction methods for key parameters of converters

    Based on historical operating data of converter devices, state-of-the-art theories such as machine learning and artificial intelligence are introduced to extract key parameters, providing a basis for lifetime prediction, reliability assessment, and optimal operation of converters.
