Abstract:
This presentation will introduce a series of cutting-edge research endeavors undertaken in recent years by the Medical Robotics Laboratory at the University of Southern Denmark, showcasing the innovative applications of robotic technology, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering in the healthcare domain. The talk will first address biomedical sensing technologies for early diagnosis of oral-laryngeal cancer, with a focus on how novel sensors, multimodal data acquisition, and intelligent analytical methods enhance the accuracy and efficiency of disease detection. Subsequently, it will present a robotic-assisted system for arterial puncture procedures, highlighting key technologies in needle path planning, real-time guidance, and precise control, as well as its potential for improving clinical safety and success rates. The presentation will also introduce whole-lung scanning robotic technology for pulmonary disease screening and emergency care, demonstrating the robot's capability to perform large-range, high-consistency lung scans autonomously, along with the associated perceptual and control algorithms. Finally, the talk will explore the application of artificial intelligence in medical education, including intelligent teaching platforms, clinical skills training, and data-driven learning assessment methods, and discuss how AI technologies can foster innovation in the training models for medical professionals.
Biography:
Dr. Cheng Zhuoqi is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern Denmark. He received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Advanced Robotics from the Italian Institute of Technology and the University of Genoa, Italy, and his M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. His research interests encompass biomedical sensing technologies and medical robotics. He has published over 70 academic papers and filed 6 patents. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE T-MRB and is a member of the Board of Directors of EU CRAS. He has participated in and led multiple EU and Danish national projects and has received several Best Paper Awards at international academic conferences.
