On the afternoon of April 22, Jingyi Academy held the 15th "Mentor Gongfu Tea Salon" event. Professor Yingzi Wang from the College of Engineering was invited to attend and share insights with students on the theme "Modern Insights from Climate-Adaptive Construction Wisdom of Chaoshan Traditional Dwellings". The event was hosted by Yijing Yu, counselor of Jingyi Academy.
During the event, teachers and students discussed approaches to revitalize rural spaces and traditional villages. Professor Wang shared her views by combining daily scenes and stylistic features of old urban communities and villages, guiding students to think about space improvement strategies from a designer’s perspective and facilitating the transfer and application of traditional design concepts.
Professor Wang interpreted the construction wisdom of rural architecture, emphasizing that such experience can provide references for the sustainable development of modern cities. She encouraged students to pay attention to regional culture, enhance their perception of spatial scales through field investigations, integrate humanistic spirit and aesthetic awareness into professional techniques, and give play to their professional strengths in social practices such as the "Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project" and "Rural Revitalization". In-depth exchanges were conducted between teachers and students on the modern transformation of traditional construction wisdom.
This "Mentor Gongfu Tea Salon" provided an in-depth interactive platform for teachers and students. While guiding students to appreciate the humanistic spirit and construction wisdom in Chaoshan traditional culture, it deepened their understanding of rural architecture and regional culture, and further improved their professional competence and aesthetic appreciation.
