SEEDAHMED MAHMOUD received B.Sc. (first class) degree in medical instrumentation from Gezira University, Sudan in 1996, M.S. in electronic systems engineering from University Putra Malaysia in 1998 and PhD degree in electrical engineering from RMIT University, Australia in 2004. Prof. Mahmoud is a director of international collaboration at the department of biomedical engineering, Shantou University (STU), China, where he was appointed under the high-level foreign talents scheme.
With more than 20 years of experience in academic and industry-based research and development in electrical, electronics, and biomedical engineering. Prior to his current position, he held the role of Senior Academic with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Technology, Lincoln College International, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was a Research Fellow with RMIT University. He also possesses 11 years of professional industrial experience with the Digital Signals Division, Future Fiber Technologies (FFT) Ltd., Melbourne. During his time as a Leader of the research team with FFT, he developed a variety of innovative algorithms and identification technologies for FFT’s optical fiber intrusion detection system. His pioneering work on machine learning for perimeter intrusion detection systems has resulted in three international patents. In addition to his academic and industrial background, he has been actively involved in several research projects, holds multiple patents, and has published SCI papers, book, and book chapters. His research interests include applied signal processing for biomedical engineering and fiber optic sensors. His research in speech disorder assessment and rehabilitation at STU has led to Chinese patents and several national and provincial awards in China.
Prof. Mahmoud serves on an Editorial Board for the Journal of Computer Science (JCS) and acts as a reviewer for several IEEE and Elsevier journals. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
