The Biomedical Engineering of Shantou University will be officially opened in the autumn semester of 2018. In order to achieve the integration of medicine and engineer, we would like to recuited medical tutors from universities, hospitals and industry.

Objective:

The purpose of recruiting medical tutors is to hope that medical experts can inspire and guide students in concept, direction and method from the perspective of clinical work, so as to help the students of Biomedical Engineering department to grow up quickly and firmly. At the same time, our students can also understand the actual medical needs in clinical or scientific research in advance through their tutors, and can act as their research assistants to assist their tutors in solving related practical problems. At the same time, we also support and encourage medical experts who act as mentors to work closely with us and cooperate in scientific research areas of mutual interest.

Implementation:

Medical students in Shantou University will form and manage their own teams (a team consisting of 4-5 students), each of which is assisted by an engineering or medical tutor. Medical tutors provide consultation and guidance to the team on knowledge in the medical field. The team discusses and proposes solutions to clinical problems that the tutor encounters or is interested in in in his daily practice. With the help of the instructor, the team will eventually complete the course or professional requirements in the form of papers or project design reports. The Department of Medical Engineering of Shantou University will provide the consumables needed in the implementation of the project. If intellectual property rights are formed, they will be shared by the mentor and the Shantou Medical Workers Team.

Recruiting object:

Clinicians, medical scientists and engineering technicians in the medical device industry who are keen on teaching and research will be awarded certificates.

Service hours:

Initial term: Autumn semester of the 2018-2019 academic year, cooperation can be continued in the future.

Service form:

1. During a semester, the team arranges at least three meetings with the mentor, each meeting lasts one hour and is led by the team.

2. Provide 2-3 medical problems or suggestions to the student team.

3. According to the actual schedule, tutors can also use social networks to communicate online with the team.

4. Provide review opinions on papers and project reports written by the team.
