Established of Biomedical Engineering Department

On the morning of April 23, theopening ceremony of the Department of Biomedical Engineeringin Shantou University and the first Medical Innovation Forum were held in Hall C of the Multi-functional Hall of the Sports Park. Experts and scholars from the field of Biomedical Engineering at home and abroad gathered together to witness the opening of a new chapter in biomedical engineering teaching and research in Shantou University. The ceremony was presided over by Lin Peng, Vice President of the Institute of Technology.

Prof. Ulanhas, Vice-President, said at the ceremony that the school had excellent running conditions and abundant social resources. This major is the only biomedical engineering major in China that teaches in English. It introduces the complete curriculum system of biomedical engineering major from the top 10 University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) in the world. It also introduces high-quality teachers both at home and abroad, including full-time teachers from the University of Michigan. It is strong in curriculum design. The curriculum system of personnel training with "solid foundation, solid specialty, flexible direction, distinctive features, strengthening practical training, improving comprehensive quality and competence" includes five modules, namely, basic mathematics and science courses, basic engineering courses, basic specialty courses, medical engineering courses and design sequence courses, and gives students new learning.
