Bio
Professor Kevin Chen joined Shantou University in the spring of 2009 as a full professor at the Multidisciplinary Research Center, and joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the fall of 2019 as a full professor. His major research interests include neuroscience, neurophysiology, neural tissue engineering, and brain-machine interface
Professor Chen graduated in 1984 from National Taiwan University in chemical engineering. He received his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia in 1997. From 1997 to 2001, he was a post-doc at the Department of Neuroscience of New York University. From 2001 to 2003, he was a research associate at the National Cancer Institute, NIH. From 2003 to 2008, he was an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at the Florida State University. In 2009, Dr. Chen was classified as the top-notch overseas talent by the Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs of Guangdong Province. His research has been supported by NSFC, NSF of Guangdong Province, and Shantou City Research Funds. Dr. Chen was a member of the Chinese Neuroscience Society and serves several academic journals as anonymous reviewer. He is currently interested in full brain recording and development of novel multi-modal recording microelectrodes.
