Biomedical photonics and imaging technology, 3D image reconstruction and signal extraction

Associate Professor Zhang Lei is part of the research and teaching faculty at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Shantou University. He received his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 2014 and was awarded the honorary title of “Young Academic”, Outstanding Doctoral Candidate, Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award and Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of German Springer. 

He was postdoctoral researcher at Toyota Technological Institute, Boston University, University of Washington, and Lehigh University. 

His research areas include optical nonlinear effects, special fibers, new lasers, biomedical photonics imaging, motion tracking of target objects, 3D image reconstruction and signal extraction. 

Professor Zhang has published 1 academic monograph , nearly 30 academic journal papers, and more than 10 peer-reviewed academic conference papers. He has served as reviewer for academic journals such as Biomedical Optics Express, Optics Letters , Photonics Journal , Chinese Optics Journal, and Chinese Laser Journal.
