CDIO stands for Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate, which represents a new engineering education principle based on the lifecycle analysis and management (including the four aspects of CDIO - conceive, design, implement, and operate) of the product, processes and systems.


  Training Philosophy: 

EIP integrates with CDIO, focusing on integrated training of both professional skills and merits including ethic, integrity and professionalism. It highlights a combination of carrying-out tasks effectively training and establishing proper personality training, and takes special care to expand students’humanistic spirits.



 Training Methodology: 

The training method is strongly design-oriented. Through a series of three-level team-design projects expanding the whole four-year college education, the students have many chances to integrate their courses learning and all skills and merits learned in other occasions in the framework of the projects, therefore fostering a " Big Design " vision.  


 Professional Standards:

Based on the CDIO outline, the College of Engineering took suggestions from stakeholders including the faculty, alumni, industry partners, and so on, and made an intellectual standards including detailed requirements of skills, knowledge and qualifications for engineering students.     



The syllabus is rebuilt according to the professional standards. A realization matrix is made to relate professional standards with courses/projects seamlessly.  


 Curriculum Documents: 

According to the professional standards, a refined curriculum document is made, which includes syllabus, knowledge-skills-qualification training plan, supervision plans of experiments and projects, and teaching plans focusing on pedagogical methods.  In this way, training of knowledge-skills-qualifications is instantiated as " regular actions " . 


 A System of Quality Assurance and Assessment for Improvements: 

A system of quality assurance based on ISO standards is built, which assesses teaching activities and recommends improvements according to PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) Principle. 


 Supportive System: 

The system includes various software, hardware teaching facilities, reform of teaching assessment, etc.
