Students of Engineering College have obtained outstanding results in the 5th National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation Design Contest

The 5th National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation Design Contest was held on the Second Artillery Engineering University on July 21 to 22, 2012. More than 1,000 students and teachers from more than 120 colleges and universities in 28 provinces, carried preliminaries generated from the works of a number of 3000 finalists competing against the final. Through the links of physical display, judge onstage answer, the student presentation and defense, 78 first prizes, whose proportions accounted for about 2.5% of the entries, came out.

Through participating students, instructors, teachers’ hard working, Shantou University students of Engineering College obtained the great awards.  "self-balancing two-wheeled recreational vehicles" designed by Li Yaoquan, Hu Yongguo, Zhao Rongjie, Liang Guibin, Zhang Zhaowen (instructor: Professor Chen Shaoke, Wu Baozhao) won the national first prize, the students designed the "household automatic fruit juicer (instructor: Professor Chen Shaoke, Zeng Haiyan) designed by Xu Shulong, Yang Shaoqing, Lin Wenhua, Yang Zixu won the national second prize.

The competition is organized by the National Undergraduate Mechanical Design and Innovation Competition Committee and the Ministry of Education Mechanical Basic Courses Teaching Steering Sub-Committee, and the Second Artillery Engineering University have hosted. The theme of the contest is "a happy life - today and tomorrow", whose contest is "Leisure machinery and household machinery design and production.

The National Undergraduate Mechanical Design and Innovation Competition which is held every two years, is approved by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education of mechanical Teaching Steering Committee. This year is the 10th year of the contest. The National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovative Design Contest has become one of China's most influential university student technology competitions in major tournaments, which many universities attach great importance to. The entered products are judged by the links of physical display, judge onstage answer, the student presentation and defense, which tests the innovation, practicability and prospect of the product.
